Losing Weight For Disney

Hi everyone. My name is Gina and I am trying to lose weight for our upcomming trip to Disney world I am a 34 year old with 4 kids. I have the baby weight to lose from my last child... he's almost 9 It is hard dieting when i am a stay at home mom. I eat with the kids and there is always junk around.
I have 50 lbs. to lose by the middle of Aug. Even if I get close it would be awesome. I have tried MANY diets out there and lost weight on some but always gained it right back. The last diet that i really lost weight on was Nutrisystem. I did lose 25 lbs. but then gained it all back within 1 year. Once i started eating real food again it came back FAST. i have tried the 6 week makeover diet which lasted 3 days cause i got REALLY sick from it. when i try just eating healthy on my own it doesnt last.....so i am here and once and for all determined to lose the weight. I am on ( yes another diet program ) the 1 day diet. I am actually in the study and i will recieve 1,000 at the end of 3 months for doing the study..DISNEY MONEY.......the program is that you eat these tablets every hour for 10 hours one day and nothing else and the next day you eat whatever. I saw my doctor and he said the program made sence. as long as i get in my normal calories that i eat before the diet on my off days it would be fine. Also my body wil be used to eating reg. foods ( not low-carb) so when i go off my body wont go in shock and gain weight the minute i eat bread. I am real determined this time around. I want to be able to go the the mall and buy all the lastest style of clothing, I want to look and feel good, and I want to be happy with me. So here I go.....

Day one: * DIET DAY *
weight: 183
exercise: gym- bike for 50 min. in fat burning zone
food: NONE

Hi Gina

Wow Disney! I am so jealous! I havent been in years and years. There is something so magical about that place.
Glad to hear your making a comittment to losing weight. Um interesting program your doctor has you on. I am not a doctor, and I have no medical training, but starving is never a good idea. How is this not going to kill your metabolism? And wont you gain it all back once you go back to eating normally 7 days a week? Just my 2 cents. Whatever works for you is what you should do. But it should be safe. And you should learn the reason why you became overweight in the first place. If you dont heal the insides, no diet in the world can ever be permanent. I have lost weight before and then gained it back (and more) because I didnt address my inner issues.

Just some food for thought...
Have a great weekend!

Whoever gave you this miracle diet has got some serious issues. Starving yourself is hurtful to your body. Trust me, you will screw up your system if you don't eat. The more you eat, the faster your metabolism is and the faster you burn fat. I eat 6 meals a day, small portions and have lost 22 pounds in about 3 months.

Not eating will slow your metabolism making it harder to burn the fat. You WILL notice the numbers on the scale doing down...but you are not losing fat..you are losing muscle mass and that is not healthy! I have talked to a health professional about this as well...by doing this...once you start eating normal again, you will gain the weight back 3 times faster.

I wish you all the best - please choice a healthy way to lose the weight. I can say that just watching your calorie intake each day and working out every day will make the numbers go down on the scale - the healthy way. I would never have believed this but it is happening to me. I started my weight loss journey on Feb 1, 2006 and have lost 15 lbs (as of March 16th)...I must say that the numbers have dropped and it is all b/c I have stayed motivated and have stayed strong. I have increased my workouts every 2 weeks...I am now up to 1.5 hours each day. I started my workouts with 1 mile - I now do 3 miles (in home), pilates, and BL dvd...I walk with Leslie Sansone in home...she has terrific videos.

Honestly...work hard and you will lose the weight. BEST WISHES!

Oh..and just because you lose weight doesn't mean you can go back to all your old unhealthy eating habits. You have to make it a lifestyle change and limit the junk...and you must keep up with the exercise as well.

I am sorry if I am coming off rude..I just don't want you to hurt yourself. Please..if you have any questions, just ask me. If I don't know..I can ask my trainer or the health manager at my gym.

I hate to sound like a broken record-- but please be careful. Losing weight is not worth damaging your health in any way.
I have made a vow to myself to not start, or try anything that I know I can't , or won't be able to do for the rest of my life.
I want to lose weight...but I would rather not lose any, than lose it, only to gain it back. As bad as it feels to be unsuccessful, I think it would feel worse to get off those pounds, and then have them come back -- and then some ... it ususally seems.
You have a goal--- and I think it's attainable, without doing anthing so drastic.
I don't know--- it's your decision of course. Maybe this is just what you need to get a jump start. But please be careful about what you put in your body.

As of last week I have lost 26 lbs, and have about 36 more to go to reach my goal weight before our trip. I am doing a complete lifestyle change. Hello, welcome to the boards and best of luck in achieving your diet and fitness goals!

Just wanting to echo what the others have said - be very cautious about 'quick fix' diets - they really can be bad for your body. The best way really is the old fashioned way - good old diet and exercise, slow and steady.

Best of luck and take care!

Welcome. I am sure if you have talk to your doctor and also have much more info on the study you will be fine. Just make sure to listen to your body. Good luck. And I am so jealous about your trip. Trips are also a great motivator to lose weight.
