Who knew venturing off the diet path could prove to be so devastating to your morale? As soon as I took the 1st bite all I could think to myself was that I am a failure and I am going to be fat forever.
Does any of this make any sense? Sorry to ramble.

Welcome to the boards! I'm glad you started a journal. Even if you're not sure exactly how you'll use it yet it will figure itself out. It is, as mentioned, great for accountability and questions and lots of things. And you never have to apologize for rambling -this is your space to say whatever you are feeling like journaling about!
I'm glad you know that not eating isn't healthy -we're all wanting to make changes that not only lower our weight but make us healthier and stronger people. And we want to make lasting changes -and we want to help you too. As suggested above 1200 cal is the minimum calories suggested for women daily, so keep those calories low and count em, but make sure they add up to 1200, ok?
Under 1200 cal your body goes into starvation mode and begins eating muscle, not fat, and less muscle also means lower metabolism. It's so frustrating isn't it? I mean wouldn't it be easier not to have to eat at all rather than having to eat then work off calories too? Alas, that's not the way we were built. So now you've kickstarted your weightloss make sure you're exercising and eating 1200 cal of good healthy fresh food and try not to drive anywhere near McDonalds.
Welcome to the forums, journaling online, and good luck with everything!

Not eating works great....until your stomach realizes it's hungry and then it's all over. I guarrentee you will eat anything within a 10 mile radius. Then you will feel so sick, you just want to throw up just to feel better and make your stomach stop hurting. (Like with the stomach flu) When you deny your body necessary fuel, it wont function correctly. Will your car run on air? I think not. I had a friend in college who didnt eat for 5 days straight and she wound up in the hospital. Like others here have pointed out, you dont eat, you kill your metabolism, and your body seeks fuel from muscle tissues. When you finally do eat, your body will hog every last calorie. You will gain weight quickly. Doesnt sound so appealing right now does it? I am at a loss as to why people like Nicole Richie are so happy being stick women. I am sure their metabolisms are shot to heck. Not eating also brings with it a host of bad stuff like; crankiness, lack of strength, and I am sure it is diffucult to stay awake when you have nothing to fuel you. Brains need food too.
I am not saying that you are anywhere near as bad as Nicole or some other hollywood starlets, but it is a very unhappy way to live. Eating shouldnt be your "everything," but it shouldnt be "optional" to you either. You have to eat to lose!

Oh wow, I just read through everyone's posts to my journal and I have to say thank you all for being concerned and pointing me in the right direction. I tried really hard today to eat good (not easy working in a pizza shop, right?) Anyway, I didn't cave and I'm proud because it was soooooo tempting. I just want to bury my face in a pizza.... whoops!! Can't think like that now, can we?
I love these boards because every single person here knows what I'm going through and it makes me so mad that skinny people just see you as a fat person. This I bring up because I had to kick the hubby to the curb today. I'm soooooo sorry he's 6'3" 150 since high school and hasn't gained a pound in 16 years. And yes, I was thin when we got married, but mass steroid doses (had foot injuries), lack of excercise, eating pizza constantly and busting out a couple kids made me fat. So why (???) do you have to throw this in my face every single time you get mad at me? "You're so fat, why bother getting out of sweatpants?" Ummm, okay. I'm changing that now, so get on down the road buddy.
So what to do with pent up anger and frustration? Work out with Bob and Jillian!!! YAY! I'm telling ya, I am so out of shape. I can't wait for the day I can whip through those exercises without feeling like I'm going to pass out! I know you all can relate with me on that one. I thought about applying for the show, but just doing these videos now makes me think I made the right choice not to. How could I ever make it at the ranch? Geez!
It's Thursday and I have made that my official scale day. And I weigh in at... (drumroll please!!)... 212!!!
I love y'all! You guys are great!

Sweetpea~
I can relate to temptation at the work place. I decorate cakes for a living. When I am not doing that, I'm making breads, or pastries. Temptation is all around me...but I just think of how good I feel when I snub the bad stuff. It gets easier as time goes on, and you see more and more results from your personal choices. And just remember, if you must give into temptation, portion control is key. Instead of eating 1 pizza, eat 1 slice. I cannot promise you’ll feel good by eating it, but, you should feel good about controlling yourself.
As for your husband, it sounds like you’ll be better off without him. I know people say things when they are upset, but that’s uncalled for no matter how angry he may have been. I’m very happy you opted to exercise though rather then turn to food for comfort. That’s awesome!
Just remember what we’ve all told you…don’t starve yourself. Make healthy choices, and find as many reasons as you can to smile hun. You’re doing great!!!!!
Lady Jami
P.S. I seen you said you're at 212...but I didn't see your weight prior. How much have you lost total?

Mmmm.... cake. Thanks for your kind words! I know he's a jerk but in reality, he's insecure. See, if I get thin and beautiful like I used to be, he's afraid I'll run around and well, I'm just not like that. I love my life, my husband, and my kids. He's the one with issues, not me!! Men!! My starting weight was 225 so that makes a loss of 13 pounds for me!!! Eating good and exercising when I have a craving. Working out with Bob and Jillian every day twice a day, plus I'm enrolled in a circuit fitness (kinda like Curves) class at school. You get 2 credit hours and four hours in the gym with a trainer per week, plus since I'm a student, I have full access to anything in the gym at anytime. It's awesome. The elliptical has been getting my goat, though. Guess I'm not coordinated enough!! LOL

I wouldn’t worry too much about the elliptical machine. I have the natural grace of a semi truck, so, I can understand what a pain those types of machines can be. I prefer a nice long walk. My doctor told me there is nothing better then walking, except swimming…and I’ll be doing that as soon as the weather permits.
I understand about dealing with an insecure man. I think most of us have dealt with our manimals being insecure. By no means though does that justify him calling you fat. Nothing makes me more upset then a man who cannot control his mouth when he’s angry. Maybe with some time apart, he can realize he needs to mature a little bit, and learn to control his mouth. Name calling doesn’t solve issues any better then violence does.
That’s just wonderful you’ve lost 13lbs. Keep up the good work, and I wish you all the best with the elliptical machine.

Today is going to be such a long day and it's going to be really hard to stick to the diet. I have to work 12 hours today (9-9) then I have to go set up my DJ equipment because I'm DJing a wedding tomorrow. Imagine. I'm just going to stay in my little corner and ignore all of the fat packed food they'll be eating.
So anyways, I got up this morning and worked out with Bob. High intesity cardio and boot camp from the BL DVD. THAT got me pumped up for the day. I've got 1 kid off to school and the other one rady for daycare who is now sharing her banana with me. And lucky me! I get to wear the banana sticker today!! Woohoo! The dog is fed, the dishes are done, the heat's turned down, so I guess I'm out the door!
HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to keep going Amber! I'm glad the the recent troubles with your man aren't harming your path to better health. Doing 2 sections of the DVD is so fantastic; color me impressed. You're going to lose that weight in no time exercising like that. I'm glad to hear you're eating sensibly now, remember to count those calories and you'll be taking good care of your body in a balanced healthy way. It's also great that you have access to all those school resources.
Be sure to have something at that wedding you can eat close by so you aren't tempted to graze. I can't imagine how hard it must be to work in a pizza place -I think pizza is a weakness for many of us. I know it is for me.
Best wishes working such a long day and thanks for coming to the forums!

Just wanted to check in and say that I hope you have a great day today! It's good to hear that you are staying focused and not giving in to those temptations!
Good for you!
