wintolose journal one

I need to start journaling more. I was doing well for the last couple of months and now I hit a snag. I pulled blood vessels in my eye and it was very painful-- so that was my excuse for not going to the gym. Then, one thing lead to another- I wasn't planning my meals and snacks, I was eating out more and making the wrong food choices. I weigh in at a TOPS meeting on Thursday nights and I gained a pound and a half. I had a big mac meal today for the first time in 3 months. I have so many stressors in my life right now. I am afraid I am not going to get back on track and go back into my bad eating habits again.

Ouch, your eye sounds really painful, I sure hope it is getting better.

Don't worry about getting off course, the first step is realizing it and then start making changes again and better choices and you'll be right back on track before you know it.

You go to TOPS also?? I go on Thursday nights. Been going for little over a year now. All last year I might've lost 15 lbs all year but this year I am more determined then ever. I've lost 12 lbs since January 1 and I aint quitting yet!!

I would love to hear more about what your TOPS group and some of the things that you do at your meetings.

I know how you feel. There are so many factors that can cause setbacks. And it's so discouraging. The hardest part of any of this, for me, is getting started. So, whenever I slip back into my old habits, it's just that much harder to get motivated to get back on track again.
We all mess up. We all make mistakes. But we can't give up. We have to keep trying. It won't make you feel better to give up. I've tried it. I've tried to tell myself to just accept the way I am, and not worry about it. I've tried to tell myself that it's ok to be overweight, and that nothing will work anyway, so why bother. But no matter now hard I try, I can't convince myself that these things are true. It's not ok, and there are things that work. It's hard. I have had to start over so many times. But I have no choice. I'm going to keep trying till I get it right. I'm not going to let slip ups and mistakes get me down. I'm going to get right back up on the horse, and try again.
Just start small -- one day at a time. We're here for you-- rooting for you all the way. You can do it!!!

Last week I was so ticked off I decided to work out with Richard Simmons instead of hitting the fridge. Maybe that can work for you too?

Thank you all for your support. My eye is getting much better.
Today was a struggle too. I ate a bag of chips and a 3 muskateers bar.
Tommorrow is a new day and I am going to try and do better--
plan my lunch and bring it to work and go to the gym.
I do not want to slip back.
I have been going to TOPS since 2000 with 2 different clubs.
Last year I started out great, losing about 20 lbs. then left club for several months and began again in December 9, 2005 gaining back all of the weight.
Since 12/9 I have lost 17 lb and now I am trying to get back track. I do not want to waste another year. I guess the key is to keep going every week.
Our club is about 20 members and we meet on Thursday nights too.
We are having elections this week and I am thinking of running for secretary. I think the commitment will help me stay on track and keep attending the meetings. We always have a contest to help motivate us.

I think running for Secretary is a GREAT idea! You may feel more motivated because the other members will look up to being a leader and all. It shows that you are dedicated to the program. I am glad to hear that you are planning what you will eat tomorrow, that always helps me stay on track. Don't worry about the past, just stay focused on your skinny future.

I agree that running for secretary is a great idea to distract you from daily stresses. That contest should help too. I am glad to hear you are feeling better. The next time you feel like reaching for the chips, try writing in your journal. By the time I have answered everyone on here, I am no longer hungry! Keep up the good work. If you lost weight before, you can do it again. We are here for you.
