Red face weaverdelooh's personal journal

Well, over the weekend I decided to go off my "diet" portion of my lifestyle change and work on my exercise goals. Unfortunately, I didn't get any exercise done either!!!!! So this morning, the kids found the cinnamon rolls I had bought at the store and wanted them for breakfast. Now normally I'd eat the remaining two so as to prevent an argument as to whom gets them. (Either that, or the cinnamon roll monster would hit in the middle of the night and eat 4 of the six, leaving only 1/2 of one per child.) Well, the cinnamon roll monster didn't hit, and instead of eating the other two, I decided the kids would like an extra treat. So, I cut them in 1/2 and the kids loved it this morning. As for me???? My bowl of grapes will have to do. I know they're loaded with sugar, but they can't be nearly as bad for me as the cinnamon rolls would have been!

As of today, I'm clueless as to how much I weigh. It must be somewhere near 260 lbs though. I'll see if I can't get my measurements later today, it will be a better place to start; at least I'd have some form of measurement that way....

susieokla will become famous soon enough
You're doing great! Keep it up!!

I'm not sure what you mean about going off the "diet" and focusing on exercise only? I was just asking because it seems like the only way for me to lose weight is with diet and exercise. I know it's hard to focus on both at the same time but you can do it!!

You definately made the right choice with turning down the cinnamon rolls and eating grapes instead!!

I think that you did a wonderful job on turning away from the cinnamon rolls. I know how difficult it is when you are handing out treats for your kids - the temptation can get to a person. I have been like you and have been able to give out the treats and not eat any. Keep up the good work. You will get back on track with your dieting and exercising...it sounds like you are beginning to get burned out. Take it slow! You can do it!

1 cup of grapes about 80 calories, a bowl is probably 2 cups? 160 calories vs the 500 or so that would be in two cinnamon rolls. Fantastic choice!

Keep making choices like that and weight will fall off you!

I just wanted to say thanks for the encouragement! I REALLY needed it today! I had a horrible day at work, and even skipped lunch. Well I take that back, I did eat a cheesey bread stick, but that was it. I also managed to consume one Liter of my favorite carbonated water. (before it would have been a liter of pop!) I was so happy this evening when I went to find supper, I was in one of those "get out of my way, I'm getting food NOW!!!!" moods. Low and behold it was just a matter of heating the chicken up in the microwave, and dumping some fresh veggies on my plate. I did have a serving of ranch dressing, but I'm ok with it. It's STILL healthier than anything else I would have scraped together.

Anyway, thanks for the encouraging words, you have no idea how much i really needed them today.

Ok, I think I've finally managed to make the switch to carbonated water instead of pop. I really missed the sugar to begin with, but for the first time I felt better today than I have in a long time.

You are very welcome! You are doing a super job...it takes time but I think that we're getting used to the changes.

I am the same way - I drink water from the time I wake up until dinner time. I will usually have a Sprite or Sierra Mist with dinner - but that is only if my calories are low enough. I feel so much better now that I don't drink Pepsi all day every day. My teeth aren't so sensitive either - my teeth hurt really bad and since I have been drinking more water they don't hurt so much.

Well, I'm hoping that by the end of the night that I'll have gotten in at least 6 glasses of the water. My daughter just tasted it and said "yum, it tastes like pop". The only thing is it has aspertame in it. Not exactly something I know much about, so I don't really want the kids drinking it yet. (Guess I'm not setting such a good example, but I tend to think this is the healthier choice for me in the long run.)

Patty Ann, you're always so encouraging. I think I'm going to give you a salute!

Have you tried drinking plain water -or water with lemon in it? I have stayed away from flavored water b/c I figure if I'm drinking water it better be the real deal.

Thanks for the salute!
