Talking Been there too

As much as it hurts me to say this, I think we have all had at least one verbal run in with the public. It's bad enough that people stare, or even snicker. But why resort to being so rude? I guess it is to mask their own imperfections and self esteem issues. If people are busy looking at you, then they wont notice them. I wish everyone could spend a week being morbidly obese just to take a walk in our shoes. I can guarantee that they would change their tune. Being overweight is tough enough to deal with, why do people have to make it harder by being so hurtful? Hang in there. One day people will notice you for you, and not your weight first.

Love,
Carrie

I took small bites, and kept telling myself that after this, all I could have was water for the rest of the night. I'm a huge water drinker as it stands, so, that's really nothing new. I just cake have that brownie, or chips and cheese at 1am like I'd like to.
I also made sure I had sugar-free Jello on hand. I figure to deny myself things like sweets is to set myself up for failure. I just keep telling myself that in order to make this a lifetime change, I need to make sure I make choices I can live with easily.

Way to go sound like your on the right track. I agree denying yourself sweets is definately setting yourself up for failure. I am a huge sweet fan and I make sure to find things I can have. Pudding is usually good, skinny cow or weight watchers ice cream treats are wonderful, and i just found at walmart weight watchers thin mints and toffee bars (they are by the slim fast and other diet bars) they are 88 cents and tastle like the real thing. Yum Yum. I do weight watchers and always try to leave a few points to reward myself with a treat each day this really keeps me on track. I also like your seeing it as a "lifestyle change" that is the only way. Dieting doesn't work you just have to get rid of bad habits and start good ones and the pounds will melt off and STAY off

For Icecream, I am a fan of Carb Karma from Ben and Jerry's. I am not sure if any of you have tired it, but it tastes exactly the same as their normal ice cream. If only Krispy Kreme came out with a guilt free donut....I'd be one happy girl.
I have given a lot of thought about joining weight watchers, but it just seems so expensive. That, and I have serious reservations about weighing myself in front of other people. I am always open to advice or suggestions.
Thank you for your support Theresa.

I am like you too, Lady Jami. I had a friend who did weight watchers, and had really great success. But I couldn't bring myself to join. I think groups like that are wonderful for some people. But I feel so strongly, that if I'm going to do this, and make it last for a lifetime, I need to do it myself. My friend quit weight watchers, because she said it got too expensive, and eventually gained most, or all, or the weight back. I don't ever want to start anything, that I'm going to eventually quit, or go on any diet I'll eventually have to go off of.
I'm comfortable here, but I don't think I would be comfortable in a group setting, like weight watchers.

Weight watcher is great but if you need to go each week to keep you on track then it is hard if you quite going. I am doing it but not a member. To me it is just a lifestyle change that is layed out for me that works for me.

I couldn't agree with you more. I am doing this on my own accord, and while support is always nice, I think my self motivation is more then enough. I feel if I joined something like weight watchers, it would end up more like a game to see if I could out do everyone. In the long run, I'd probably end up like your friend...and gain all and more back.
For me, this is a lifestyle change. What I do today, I plan to do five years from now. Just in a smaller body. So, Muppet, you and I are thinking on the same track, and with any luck, we can be each others support.

Today I have to do my "I'm gonna be a skinny girl with manners" dance! I am down another 3lbs, bringing my total weight loss to 7lbs in a week and a half. I know it's not the most drastic weight loss ever, but, I feel proud of myself.
I was checking into the tread climber from BoFlex. It looks awesome, and since it won't kill my knees, I'll actually use it.
I'm not sure who invented the jump rope..but I don't think they had breasts. My goodness was I sore after that. It felt worse then I did when I was on the trampoline. If I knew it wouldn't hurt so bad, I'd duct tape them in place.
Tonight for dinner, I am going to reward myself with a fruit salad, and take a break from chicken.
I'm looking forward to the next few weeks. I just need to stay focused on my goals, and be realistic about what I am going to do.

That comment made me laugh out loud! Sometimes, mind just have a mind of their own! I always wear 2 sports bras if i'm going to be doing any kind of high impact activity. It really helps keep 'the girls' where they belong!

I get the Tapioca - Fat Free/Sugar Free pudding. I love it! I don't snack on it very much though - I find that I grab the celery before anything else. I think it only has 90 calories...can't remember though.

Oh that is so true about jump ropes and the "girls." You gotta quit before you want to because your chest feels like there are anvils attatched to them. Oh the pain!

That Bo Flex sounds awesome! I would kill to have one. Let me know how it works out for you.

You decorate cake right? How cool is that? How can you stand the smell of cake all day and not inhale one?! Keep doing what you are doing!!

Love,
~Carrie
