Kicking Butt
Sounds like you are doing great Missy. How was the party? Did anyone try to coax you to eat a plate of food?? I used to think that parties were about the food. Wrong...
Widdle, the eliptical is an experience. When I was at my top weight I got on one for 5 mins and thought I was going to die. But boy they really do work you out. There is an eliptical machine and an eliptical cross trainer. I like the cross trainer better because there is less pressure on my knees. Make sure you have a towel close by, you will need it. Would love to own either a treadmill or an eliptical trainer. Another added plus...they are so quiet, you can watch tv without distracting anyone else in the house.
Missy how long did it take you to build up to an hour?

I think once I wear out my treadmill, I will look into an elliptical. I just got a really cheap price on the treadmill. I always worry that it is making too much noise, or the people that live on the first floor are staring up at their ceiling wondering what the heck I am doing.

This is the elliptical I use at the gym..it's VERY easy on the knees.
http://www.fit-shop.com/images/equip...ainer-610a.jpg
I do a lot of leg weights with my trainer which is why I can do level 10 on the elliptical. I believe the resistance is at 45 on level 10. It really burns your legs...I used to do 20min, then went up to 1/2 an hour, then to 45 min and now I am up to an hour.
I do 270 pounds on the leg press and 100 pounds on the leg extensions and sometimes do an hour of lunges..so my legs are pretty strong. You just have to keep working at it, you all can do it!!
I don't really look my weight...I weigh 249 pounds but most people think I am around 170 or 180...most of my fat is in my boobs and stomach area. My legs are trim and my arms only have a little flab left that I am working off.

Sounds great! Most people do not believe that I weigh 185. I also carry most of it in my stomach, so if you look at me head on, I look pretty good. My side view is what is still horrendous, lo!

I lost another 2 pounds this weekend.
I have quit my paxil altogether now and I think that's why I am seeing faster results. I gained 60 pounds from being on this crap and it's taking me forever to lose the weight.
I am feeling some withdrawal side effects from the paxil though and they are hard to deal with at times. I called to make an appointment with my doctor to see if there's a way to totally cleanse the drugs from my system..and to do this without the side effects.
Being off the paxil has made it harder for me to complete my workouts because my heart rate is off the wall and my body can't take it...and I get really bad dizzy spells. I do try my best though. I haven't been working with my trainer the last 2 times I was booked with him because the workout is too intense and my body can't take it.
So..I have been doing cardio instead, just to keep up my routine. Mon, Wed & Fridays I now do cardio for a whole hour and a half -all on the elliptical at level 10...I still want to feel like I am getting a good workout even though I can't do my weights.

I never realized how much this medication was keeping back from reaching my weight loss goals.
I stopped taking the paxil on Saturday...it's now Tuesday and I have lost a total of 4.5 pounds in 4 days.
Yup...since I posted last night, I lost another pound and 1/2.
I wish I never went on that medication in the first place, every time I see the numbers drop on the scale I get so giddy.

Hi Missy,
Sounds like you really have some strong legs. I am hoping that when I get to my goal weight I can get an Eliptical Cross Trainer. I originally wanted a treadmill, but with a cross trainer I can watch tv and not have to blast it and tick off my neighbors. I love the leg press. Makes me feel powerful!
It amazes me how many pills out there will hinder weight loss. I was told a pill I am on, (not weight related) would help me lose a little during my time of the month. I am skeptical. Mood altering drugs (for depression etc) are also said to stall loss, or cause you to gain.
Keep up the great work! Sounds like you and I both collect weight in the same areas. I hate my profile too, but head on isnt so bad!

So I have stopped taking my medication altogether now. I stopped taking it last Saturday ...Feb 18th...it is now Feb 25th and since being off the meds I have lost almost 6 pounds!!! Isn't that crazy? I never realized the medication was so bad for you, if I knew I would gain this much weight from it I would have never taken them.
I am still dragging my butt to the gym 5 times a week. I had my fit-test the other day at the gym too if you read my other post in the general section...I lost a total of 23 inches so far. I'm very happy about that!
