so far I did 7 mins on the arc trainer, then decided that it was too pretty outside to be inside. I walked almost 2 miles in 25 mins. I did half of my upper body weight training and my abs.

Eating is on track, will check back in later. Gotta run!

I didnt do cardio but di about 40 mins lower body and abs-

This mornings "Open Windows" devotional was great, thought I would share-

Open Windows Wednesday January 9, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Discipline
Devotional Passage: Titus 2:11-15

Read the Bible Through: Genesis 23-24
Matthew 6:1-18

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.
Titus 2:12

Americans have a love-hate relationship with our weight. Some of us can't stand to be overweight, but we love eating more. One report estimates Americans spend more that $35 billion on wight-loss products; yet government statistics tell us the percentage of people who are considered obese in the United States continues to grow.

Our culture is in the paradoxical position of holding high the ideal of a slim, healthful body and yet embracing a philosophy of self-gratification that includes anything and everything one wants.

When Paul mentored Titus, he made it clear discipline is a cornerstone of Christian behavior. We are to clean up our lives, treat others justly, and work to make ourselves presentable to God.

Like weight control, godliness is not just a one-time thing, but rather a lifelong process. What we eat helps determine the shape of our bodies; but what we think and what we do determines the shape of our lives.

Lord, help me have the discipline to live soberly, righteously and with godliness.

From the winter 2007-2008 issue of "Open Windows" a publication of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention. Devotions for January 1-10 are by: Donald Brazile, senior pastor of Buchanan First Baptist, Texarkana, Texas.

Youre welcome!

I had my last chance workout day. This morning, I did 42 mins on the elliptical, 35 mins lower body and abs. I read a few chapters in Isaiah while I was on the elliptical, and it was nice because when I was going around the lake, everytime I got concerned about how far I was going those same verses popped into my mind. I walked/jogged around the lake for 55 minutes, and did 35 mins upper body and abs. But my experience at the lake reminded me of this verse- Psalm 119:105 They word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

I didnt do so hot for breakfast and lunch, but after 1 pm, I did great.

I am exhausted, gonna head for bed.

I did a long workout this evening- 60 mins on the treadmill, upper body and lower body wieght training, and abs. I am so thankful that I am feeling much better and can workout more now, Praise the Lord!

I try to mix things up each week, so this week I am doing whole body weight training M,W,F, and focusing on 1-2 sessions of cardio each day on T,Th,Sat.

I'll try to post more in everyone else's journals later, I am headed for bed. I have been pretty busy, this weekend we got to see Michael, and also got to see that with God all things are possible!!

Take care! I am late for bed.

Morning 30 minutes- arc trainer, abs, back

This evening I managed to get in another 30 minutes on an elliptical and 2 more sets of abs. I had a nasty fall last week, realised tonight that my knee is infected. If its not better tomorrow then I will just do weights tomorrow and let it rest.

Reading through the psalms again, this was a verse that stuck with me tonight while i was on the elliptical....

Psalm 46:5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

So far since the first of the year I have lost 6 pounds! PTL!!

Thanks Missy! I am praying about today, the infection seems to have gotten a bit better, enough to stand a normal large bandage, but I may still take the day to rest and not even do the weights either. I know that the last thing I need to do is aggravate it and put myself out of commission for days. It was a very deep wound.

now for my rant on TBL

My "biggest" problem with TBL is the attitude of the trainers about "low" numbers. I know its a game, but its sad that double digits are the only view of success. I wonder how many young people see a loss of 3 or so pounds and give up because they just dont understand that its not a healthy standard. There is a girl at the gym thats been working out very hard. I complimented her the other day, that i noticed she was really dedicated. But her reply was that she felt like giving up because she hadnt dropped any "real" numbers. She is pretty young and it just broke my heart. I told her that success was alot more than dropping big numbers each week, that courage and determination has yet to be measured on a scale.

I read an article on the BL and how it set people up to regain, it made alot of sense. Reading that Kai ate only asparagus (a diuretic), sugar fee jello, and spent 6 HOURS at a time in a sauna twice a day to lose 19 pounds in a few days before the finale...well that made me sick. She said that those 19 pounds plus several more piled back on within only a few weeks of the finale.

It also was noted that once the show was over, in RL, it was hard to get out of that mentality that even one pound gained was a failure, and that losing one pound was never going to be good enough.

I felt so bad for the best friends team last night, in RL they would have been whoo hoooing over the loss, but instead they felt like failures AND the looks on their trainers faces also said "YOU LET US DOWN!". I liked Bob alot more when he truly acted like he cared about making a change that would help save someone's life. That focus seems to be lost and replaced by a disappointed head shake when those "piddly" losses show up.

I just wanted to go hug them both because those "piddly" one digit losses add up!
