I did well eating yesterday, and am confidant today will also be healthy and nutritious.
A little venting here --- I took the kids to school ( they would ride the bus, but the time it comes is so inconsistent and I don't like them waiting for so long, especially when the weather is so cold). I knew they would probably be getting out early, because of the forecast. And they did get out at 10:15. They did not even have 2 hours of school. I know making the call when to delay and call off school is a rotten job to have. There is always someone who knows better.... but I don't understand why they didn't just delay it this morning, to see if the weather would actually do what it was supposed to. With all the radar and stuff people have access to, I would think it wouldn't be so impossible to predict. I know nothing is exact, but that's why I think it's a good idea to delay. Give it a chance to see how it's going to pan out.... and save a lot of aggravation. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to take the kids to school. It would be an inconvenience to them, but that's ok. They have had so many snow days... and then yesterday, the only day this week when weather didn't interfere, they had a scheduled early out. So the one day they could have gone all day, they get out early anyway....
Sorry to rant, and I probably could not do any better, but sometimes it's hard to understand what they're thinking on stuff like this....
I did not go to the gym, but will work on strength training and stretching sometime today. I will also try to do a little bit of interval training to get my heart rate up. Lifting weights does boost my heart rate, and if I just do a few jumping jacks, or whatever, in between sets, I think I'll get in a pretty good workout.

Ahhh-- I feel GRRREAT!
40 minutes elliptical
20 minutes treadmill
20 minutes stretch and tone
I did a bit of jogging on the treadmill again. I walked for 2 minutes, jogged for one. I want to up the intensity of my walking, but I really don't like walking at the recommended 4MPH. It seems unnatural to me. I used to run in my younger days, so I know what an efficient exercise it is. I just don't want to hurt myself doing it. So I hope easing into it like this is a good idea. My lungs are in good enough condition for jogging, but it does hurt my feet and shins. Hopefully that will get better once I get more used to it.
I feel fantastic right now. I know I've worked hard. My muscles feel warm and loose. I feel tired, but it's a good tired. An energetic tired, if there is such a thing.
I wish I would feel more confidant in myself. I have been doing well lately, but I feel so nervous about keeping it up. I don't know why I'm so nervous about it. It's something in my control. I have been so weak in the past about giving into temptations. I want to feel strong and confidant that I will make the right choices. I suppose the longer I go without slip ups will help with this. I also think it's important to be able to slip up, and recover quickly.
I think my mindset is coming around to the right way of thinking. I keep thinking about how I want to see some results from all my hard work, and not hide it by over -eating.
Well anyway -- here's to today. I can only take it one day at a time.

I did ok this weekend. I almost always take the weekend off from working out. I probably shouldn't because it seems like there's always some reason ( usually weather related) that I can't get to the gym every day during the week. But I still feel like I need to be ok with not going. If I try to go every day, I might start to feel guilty when I inevitably can't, and I want it to be a positive thing in my life. Usually, I'm ready to get back there on Monday, and that's good feeling.
Everything was canceled again today. I think things should be on tomorrow, but you just never know. As sick of the weather that I am, it is much worse south of here, so I best not complain too much. This winter has been rough on everyone, and it will be so wonderful when Spring finally arrives.
I continue to struggle with food, but am getting better. I have to think about every bite I take. And try and make those calories do some good for my body.

Baking day! Banana bread and chocolate chip cookies.... Give me strength!
It would be much easier to just not have any of this stuff around, but there's no reason why my family shouldn't be able to enjoy these occasional treats. I feel empowered when I'm able to be in control around them. And I need to be disciplined around all types of food.
I was thinking today might be a good day, since TBL is on tonight. Not like I can sit around munching on cookies while watching that show!
I'm looking forward to tonight's episode.
I haven't worked out yet, but plan to either during the show, or do the boot camp part of the workout video.

I ate 1 cookie last night, and 1 cookie this morning.
My problem is not 1 cookie -- it's 6 cookies! So I consider this a battle won.
I have made some healthier treats, and they have been pretty good. But even when I do that, I tend to eat too many. The do have so many wonderful recipes out there though. I'm a little hesitant about using too many sugar substitutes. Especially for my kids. I would rather they ( myself included) learn to eat regular food in moderation.
60 minutes elliptical today.
The machine said I burned over 600 calories. I know that is not 100% accurate, but I'm still pleased.
I still need to do my stretching and strength training. I still prefer to do that at home with my dumb bells and stability ball.

Spoiler Alert!
I just have to vent a little bit about last night's show. I'm sorry -- but what were their families thinking, having big huge food spreads for their 'welcome home' celebrations. And what's with Paul going to his favorite chicken wing pig out place, and taking Bernie to his favorite bakery? Did I miss something? Were they told to go and face all those bad habits like that? Or are their family and friends completely clueless?
I think they all did amazingly well, avoiding temptation with the exception of Paul. But the weigh-ins were not bad at all. The blue team just pulled astounding numbers. The black team did well too -- especially for at this point in the game.... and also because they did go spend time at home. The only one who did poorly was Paul. He really seemed like he wanted to separate himself from the show. He didn't answer or return any of Jillian's calls, and he pigged out on chicken wings.
But he still lost weight -- can't remember how much, but it was not too bad.. 4 or 5 pounds? So he must have just slipped up one night and he must have gotten some exercise in. I hope he puts his reward prize to good use.
It was too bad to see had had gotten so sick. I'll be curious to see at the finale if he has gotten back on track. To me, he seemed to be the most affected by going home and might be the one most likely to go back to old habits. I sincerely hope not, but he reminds me a bit of myself. 'Oh, one night of chicken wings and soda won't hurt..' and it turns into a regular thing again. So easy to do! And such a hard habit to break. Maybe that lifetime gym membership will be his reality check and when he slips up, as he will and we all do, he can be reminded of what he can do when he works at it, and how important it is to keep it up.
I thought the yellow shirt thing was a bad move on his part too. Not so much for him, but for Kelly. I think they knew Paul was going, but Kelly still has a shot. No sense in him pointed out ever so clearly that she is the outsider, obvious though it may be.
The should probably be competing individually soon anyway.
I saw they are taking applications for more teams for a future season.

50 glorious minute on the elliptical.
20 minutes stretching and toning.
Pat me on the back guys-- I make an appointment for a physical! I am really bad about going to Doctors, but I need to do it.
I have a mole on my shoulder that's changed, and that's what motivated me to get it and everything else checked out.
What motivated me last time to really get serious about my diet and exercise was a reality check from my last Dr. visit. I'm not hoping for any bad news or anything, and I didn't really have any last time. But I do need to know the facts about myself, and face what I need to do.
