Talking ~Missy in August~

It's a new month again and a much needed new start. Things have been up and down with me for the past few months and it's about time to get my butt focused again. I have been getting to the gym and doing workouts, but I have also sometimes skipped some. I have been doing okay as far as food goes...but I have had slip-ups as well. I need to be honest with myself. I have gained weight....I haven't mentioned my weight here for awhile due to extreme embarrassment. I am back around 180 or so....it makes me sick! It is about an 12 pound gain from where I was...so it's not overly huge, but big enough to depress & sicken me. I guess everything just spiraled out of control when the gym screwed us over for money, and all my inspirational trainers have all quit. It was a huge blow. It's still no excuse for me to keep going the way I'm going....I don't want to go back to where I was at 261 pounds EVER EVER again!

I have put little pictures of women in wedding dresses around to remind me of my goal. I want to be the beautiful bride that every girl dreams of being on her wedding day.

I am making a new commitment to myself starting on Monday.
-I WILL go to the gym 5 days a week again instead of 3
-I WILL get out for a nice long walk on the weekends
-I WILL run the trail on the weekend as long as weather permits
-there will be NO MORE snacking on the wrong foods or carbs at night
-I WILL increase my water intake
-and there be be no more quitting or giving up!

In other news, they are offering full-time positions again at work. I got my full-time back in May...but now my fiance is hoping he gets the full-time as well. It will do wonders on our money and we'll be able to save a lot more for the wedding. Right now he does work 9 hour days...but only if there is overtime offered..so the full-time would guarantee hours. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My fiance also just got approved for a $15,000 line of credit as well that we are taking. We don't have anything like that, and it could really benefit us for the wedding or an emergency.

Today's Food:
Breakfast-2 omega-3 eggs, 2 flax toast, 1/2 banana, skim milk
Snack: 1 turkey bite, 1/2 flax bagel w/light cream cheese
Lunch: smoked chicken breast on flax bread w/lettuce, mustard & hot peppers, 1 green apple, and some grapes
Snack: strawberries & blueberries, 13 mini rice cakes
Supper: whole grain rice w/green peas, hot peppers & chicken breast
Snack: 1 low fat/sugar free popsicle, 15 almonds

Do you calorie count? I can work out your daily requirments and give you some suggestions if you like. I'd need to know your age, height, current weight (180 yes?) and also it would be handy to know your body fat % if thats ok

Thanks for helping me figure out cals...let me know what you suggest workout wise, nothing hurts to try.

It's a long weekend this weekend and I plan on enjoying my 3 days off from work. We have to do a major overhaul of cleaning and laundry. Cheat day is today so we're going to use the leftover ingredients from last week's meal to save money and have chicken fettuccini alfredo w/garlic bread again. This weekend is also the London Balloon Festival that we'd like to go check out at some point..there's a bunch of bands there and I think as long as we don't enter the VIP area it's free...

For anyone following Hell's Kitchen, I believe there are only 2 more shows left. I must say I am very disappointed with the final 2 contestants though. Jen really should have been in the last 2 and I believe she was better than both the ones left. Out of the 2 left, I'd like to see Bonnie get it I think...Rock has a terrible attitude and explodes in anger very easily.

Spent the whole morning cleaning, we're finished now. I think we might go for a walk later on tonight.

I'm reading a good book on weight loss and nutrition right now so I'm hoping it gives me some new ideas to work with since we're going back to the gym 5 days a week again starting Monday.

I will be doing weight training Monday, Wednesday & Friday along with 30-45 minutes of cardio....Tuesday & Thursday will be strictly for cardio...an hour! I've heard on numerous occasions you shouldn't go longer than an hour because it doesn't really do anything and you are just over-training then which will make things harder in the long run. An hour is a very sufficient workout for me anyways..I'm thinking I might do 1/2 hour running on the treadmill and 1/2 hour on the elliptical. We'll see.

I completely disagree about Jen being in the finals. Would YOU want a chef to have their own restaurant knowing that they (on national tv) had taken food out of the garbage and was ready to serve it?? She was also very whiny; as were others.

Bonnie has a good palate; but isnt that great at service. Rock has a massive temper and needs anger management classes. He even admitted to having problems with his wife. Unfortunately he will win.

The only one who rightfully deserved to win this season was Julia. Who cares if she was a little less knowledgeable? She was a hard worker, never complained, was willing to learn, and treated everyone (whether they deserved it or not) with grace. I am glad she is getting a free ride to Culinary School. She is more of a chef than any of the others put together.

Actually I really liked Julia as well, she was a very sweet girl who would always put her heart out on the line to help someone. I'm really glad he got her the cooking classes though, that was pretty decent of him. I was bummed when she got sent home.

The only reason I'm voting for Bonnie now I guess...is because she still seems like she likes to be nice to everyone until they get to her. Rock just seemed to snap at anyone in the way.

You're right about Jen too..I wouldn't want to eat something she took from the garbage...but that aside, I think she did a really good job.

Either the scale has been playing tricks on me or a complete miracle happened. I was back down to 174 today which I find really weird...where did those 6 pounds go that I was sporting a few days ago? Either way, I'm very ecstatic about it.

Tomorrow at the London Balloon Festival we are going to go see some tribute bands. There's one for Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and AC/DC...I'm hoping they are good. We saw a Rolling Stones one a year or so ago and they were amazing, they sounded pretty close and even the lead singer acted as hyper as Mick Jagger is.

It does look like we may get some rain here today, so I'm really hoping we don't get any tomorrow.

I always hate how fast long weekends go by...it will be very hard getting up again at 5:30am come Tuesday morning.

Anyhoo...we're going to do some shopping today and will be getting the film developed from our holidays when we went to the beach. Have a great weekend everyone!

Congrats on the disappearing 6 lbs!

Isn't it weird how pounds come and go? I weighed myself this morning, and a couple of pounds had crept back on, and yet I have been eating really healthy lately. So there's really no accounting for it. I know that I'm generally going in the right direction--there are just these odd bubbles sometimes.

Missy....I remember you saying that they doctor had given you meds for your feet....an anti-inflammatory if I remember. Did they give you prednisone or something like that? This is a common type of med for quick relief of inflammation. If you were....that would explain it. This drug while is a miracle drug for reducing inflammation.....can make you plump up faster than anything I have ever seen. Either way.....at least the scale is back where you feel more comfortable. Good Luck with going back to the gym 5 days a week. I am sure that you will continue to lose....and be able to fit into the wedding dress of your dreams.

Ahh, that very well could have been the case. I totally forgot that something like that could cause a gain.

I just absolutely KILLED myself at the gym today. It was about time too! I did the circuit weights workout and then went onto the main floor of the gym and did another back machine, bicep and tricep machine. Stretched out my calves really good today too (the chiropractor told me to do this to help my Plantar Fasciitis). I ran up and down the stairs 10 times to the point my legs were so wobbly I could barely walk.

I wasn't finished there though. I proceeded to go on the treadmill for 1/2 an hour...I did some running intervals and then when I exhausted my lungs had my incline at 10 and speed at 3.8 and did some power walking on a high incline to work my butt!

I'm glad the sun's out today too because we want to go and see those tribute bands today.

If any of you guys use facebook, please add me. Missy Wagner.

Have a great day everyone!!
