Thumbs up thekidsmom's journal

Well, I have to say I love this site. It seems to be really supportive.

Starting Weight: 197 lbs (monday Jan 16th)
Weight Today: 182 lbs
This weeks loss: 2 lbs
Total Loss: 15 lbs
Goal: 135 lbs
Plan: Finally bought the eliptical as soon as it is delivered start using it. No excuses! Increase cardio, keep to 1260 calories.

I am counting the days till my eliptical gets here. I think the added cardio will help alot. I am keeping to the 1260 calories and am trying to eat healty foods instead of junk. I bought a digital scale and am weighing all my foods. I went to a cub scout leader meeting last night. It was at a pizza restaraunt and am so proud of myself that I did not cheat. I had a bottle of water while everyone else pigged out. And they also said they could see a difference. One of the other ladies said do you mean your on a strict diet, you can't have anything? My reply: No, I am just choosing to change my life style, I am choosing to eat healthy foods and use portion control. Hurray for me!

What an excellent response, I get tired of people asking me if I'm on a diet or referring to my choices as a diet. That's just it, it's not a diet, it has to be lifestyle change and a lifestyle choice in order to be truely successful!!!!!

Question Why???

I am keeping to my 1260 calories a day and in fact I am usually around 1000 calories but I have slowed down so much in losing the weight. Why? I am exercising everyday and I am soooo hungry! I know I should be happy with a couple of pounds a day but I am not. I work out just as much as the people on the show but without the massive results. I keep trying to tell myself that as long as I am still losing and not gaining I should be happy but somedays when my stomach actully is growling because I am sooo hungry it is really hard to stay motivated. Any advise out there?

Talking My 2 Cents

I dont know if this will help or not. A couple of weeks ago, I was exercising my brains out an hour and a half a day, and sticking to roughly 1200 cals a day. Maybe a little more, maybe less. I gained weight that week. Your body may be trying to adapt to your new lifestyle and needs time to catch up. It may also be telling you to up the calories a little. I heard the minimum should be 1,200 a day. I think they may have been eating more on Biggest Loser to fuel their intense workouts. But, if you sweat it off and stick to your diet, eventually your body will make it up to you. The only honest gain you could have is from the late night runs to Taco Bell like I used to have. Is it really realistic to gain 2-3 lbs overnight? That used to flip me out too, but think how many calories you would have to stuff down to get that kind of gain. I dont know how many times my mother had to tell me that to calm me down. Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work!

Unhappy Very Tired......

I am so tired today. Yesturday the heat went out, the guy came to fix it but didn't have the right part so he is coming back today. Well we all had to sleep in the master bedroom (me, hubby and two kids) because we only have one space heater (not something you usually need in florida) so with them tossing and turning all night, I got very little sleep. Also, it has been 8 days since I ordered the eliptical and still it is not here. I called the company they said it should be shipping out today. So that means probably another week. I feel like crap today. I know I get this way around that time of month (you girls know what I mean) but it seems extra tough today. I made the mistake of getting on the scale and it said I gained 1 pound. I know it is probably just water weight but still it didn't help matters. I just want to go and pig out on something.

Hang in there!!! You are just tired because you didn't get much sleep and I definately know what you mean about that time of the month. That was me lastweek. I just so tired and didn't feel like exercising and I had cravings and ate too much. Take it easy on yourself for a few days, you'll feel better soon.

I agree with Susie! Hang in there! Think positive - just think how well you have been doing. You can do it!

Talking H20 Gain

Isnt being a woman such a pain?? I am going to bet that 98% of the posters here are female and we completely understand. I am all for a "time of the month" friendly scale. Excess water weight wouldnt count. As for the wanting to eat something feelings...Everytime that scale creeps up, the first thing I want to do is yell, the heck with it, I'm ordering a pizza! Dont give up...together we will get through this.
