Talking ~Missy in July~

I can't believe it's already a new month. I didn't even make that many posts to my June journal which I find kind of sad because my journal used to always be packed with entries and comments. Oh well, I'm sure things will pick up around here soon enough.

I'm enjoying my long weekend (Canada Day) and I've managed to get quite a bit done around here. On Saturday we did a lot of cleaning, moved out all the furniture and some appliances again to clean underneath everything. Managed to do 2 loads of laundry as well as washing the bedding. Later in the day, we went out for a drive to see some of the places we'd like to have our wedding...see what the locations are like and how easy directions would be for our guests. Picked up some groceries while we were out.

Yesterday, we went out to see some fireworks only to find out there were none at the place we went. I was pretty peeved about it because the local paper listed them as having some so we drove all the way out there and there was nothing. I was disappointed.

Today we are going to the park to feed the ducks and run the trail along the river. I'm looking forward to it, we don't get to the park much, but I love it when we're there. Last year we went for a day just to play catch football, feed the ducks and just get out of the apartment.

Not much is happening with my weight loss as I mentioned in my other journal. I'm still struggling, still frustrated...but still trying to hang on the best I can. Giving up isn't going to get me where I want to be, so I just have to keep at it.

Today's Food will be:
Breakfast: small bowl of granola & almond cereal, 1/2 banana, skim milk, 1 piece flax toast
Snack: turkey stick, 1/2 flax bagel w/light cream cheese
Lunch: 2 pcs flax bread w/chicken breast, lettuce, mustard, hot peppers, 1 apple
Snack: tangerine, 13 mini rice cakes
Supper: home-made whole wheat pizza w/turkey sausage, red&green peppers, mushrooms, onions
Snack: low fat popsicle, protein shake

We just got back from our day at the park. It was a scorcher today! Lathered myself up with some 45 SPF suntan lotion and was ready to go! We ended up sitting on the rocks and watching all the little kids feed the ducks. I did bring some of my own bread along too, it was very relaxing. The kids were so cute too! They do have a little water area in that park with these huge flowers that shoot water out like a fountain that the kids can play in as well as a swimming pool. There is play equipment and stuff there etc....I can't wait until I can take my own kids there!

Anyways, there is a trail that runs through the park along the river and we decided to go for a run. We ran up to the university and back which logged in as 3.2 km...not too bad for a beginner I guess. They have a huge map with the distances marked on and where you can run to, I think it's pretty neat. There were tons of people on the trail today either biking, rollerblading, walking or running. It was good to see so many people out exercising. Put a little motivation back in my butt.

Well, I'm off to make my whole wheat pizza and then maybe watch a movie with my fiance. It's back to work tomorrow, thankfully this week is only a 4 day work week because of the holiday today. I only have to work 9 more days and then I'm off for a week holidays anyways...we are going to the beach for 3 days, I'm pretty excited to do some swimming!

Great job with the running. Your feet must be doing better.
I too think eventually things will pick up around here. I've thought about just abandoning this site but I can't quite bring myself to do it. I've learned so much here and found so much support -- I know it will be more active again.

Missy,

I was pleased to read a couple of things. One like Muppet stated your foot or feet (I can't remember if it was only one or both) are feeling better. I think too many of us forget to take care of our feet. Carrying extra weight is a strain on a daily basis to them. I took my Mother to the hospital for an MRI yesterday and picked up a magazine to browse through while I was waiting. They had an exercise in there for plantar fasciitis. It made me think of when I was trying to deal with it. Here is a good link that discusses it. The one that was listed in the magazine was the Intrinsic Stretch. Hope you find this useful
Physical Therapy Corner: Plantar Fasciitis — Portal

I was also pleased the read that you saw so many people out exercising. You are right….it is a great motivator to see others striving towards the same goal.

And finally…. I am so HAPPY to see that you smeared up with a good sunscreen. In a couple of weeks it will be 1 year since I had my skin cancer removed from my face. Remember me being so concerned because I had 75 stitches! I laugh now as most people can’t even tell that I have a scar. We ALL need to be so careful with not just our skin as adults, but with our children as well. Most of our skin damage is done before we are teenagers. I think of all of the sunburns that I had as a child and cringe to think of what kind of damage I have lurking around.

Keep up the good work and attitude. Good luck with trying to find a place for your wedding.

My feet are still sore, but I'm tired of missing out on good workouts, so I try to bear with it. I'm going in this Saturday to have them looked at so hopefully they can give me some suggestions.

We just got back from a run. We just ran around our neighbourhood tonight, I'm getting better little by little. Tomorrow we are hitting the gym to do some weight lifting and I'm actually looking forward to it for once.

I'm changing my food around a bit too, nothing overly drastic, but just a few small changes in areas where I haven't been eating the greatest. I'm eating about 1800 calories now. I still feel hungry though, so I'm not sure if maybe I should be eating more. I know that if you feel bloated and hungry it usually means you aren't eating enough food...but ack! I'm thinking that maybe my metabolism has skyrocketed into high gear and is always wanting more food, I dunno.

They had overtime at work today and again tomorrow, so I'll be putting in some extra hours again for the cash.

My sister has been working on some designs for my wedding invitations (she's a graphic designer)...the company she works for is giving her a huge discount and she's going to do them free of cost to me. One of my good friends also said she'd do my pictures for free since she's a photographer and a good friend of mine. I'm saving on some cost that way. To top it off, I EVEN have a friend who's a DJ...and he said he'd give us a good deal too, so I'm pretty excited about keeping things cheap.

That's all for today. I still need to shower and make my lunch for work tomorrow. Have a good night

Are you far from New York? I just saw on NBC's website that the Today show is throwing a Martha Stewart wedding. They are looking for couples that are planning on getting married. Not sure if you need to be a resident on the US...but thought you should check it out.

Let us know what they say about your feet.

We just got back from the gym. We did the circuit room tonight with weights. It was a good hard workout. I did a few extra weight machines outside of the room for my back and triceps. I want those areas toned for my wedding! It felt awesome to have such a good workout.

I spent 40 minutes on one of the ellipticals too, not the ones I usually do, but a different one. I burned a little over 300 calories on there.

Today's Food:
Breakfast: 2 omega-3 eggs, 2 flax toast, 1/2 banana, skim milk
Snack: 1/2 flax bagel w/light cream cheese, 1 turkey stick
Lunch: salad w/light italian dressing, 1/2 egg salad sandwich on flax, 1 apple
Snack: 13 mini rice cakes, 2 kiwi's and some strawberries
Supper: whole grain rice w/green peas & hot peppers, chicken breast
Snack: protein shake, fruit bar, low fat/low sugar popsicle

Ahhh, so glad the weekend is finally here! I have a pretty busy weekend planned so it should be lots of fun. Tomorrow I have to go shopping for a new bathing suit for our holidays since my old one is way too big and I also want to get some film developed from my cousins wedding. At some point we need to get groceries and then we are attending SUNFEST! which should be loads of fun.

My sister wants to hang out this weekend too because she has some paper samples for me to look at for my wedding invitations/rsvp cards. She is custom making my invitations since she works as a graphic designer now. I'm looking forward to going over all the fine details with her.

Todays Food-
Breakfast: 2 omega-3 eggs, 2 flax toast, 1/2 banana, skim milk
Snack: turkey bite, 1/2 flax bagel w/light cream cheese
Lunch: salad w/light italian dressing, 1/2 egg salad sandwich, apple
Snack: 13 mini rice cakes, fresh kiwi and strawberries
Supper: whole grain pizza w/mushrooms, turkey sausage, red&green peppers
Snack: protein shake, low fat/low sugar popsicle

Hope you all have a great weekend
