Talking Forme's Journal---honest and true

Well, since the board is a bit quiet, and I'm not one that sits in the corner to wait; well, I take that back, I am kind of a intrevert for the most part, but I guess when it comes to weight loss companionship and support, it's great to have folks along for the ride.

That being said, I guess a short intro would be nice.

Like I said in my first Introduction post, I'm married for 15 years to great guy and we have two girls (12 and 8) and 1 dog...I forgot to mention the mutt yesterday in that post.

I've lost 13 pounds since April 14th by exercise and eating a low carboyhdrate daily diet. I'm a slow loser by nature, so I don't expect major miracles. I do, however, enjoy walking for exercise...and have tempted to start running during my walking time. I do most of my walking on my treadmill and after 3-4 miles I also add 80+ crunchers to help my cool down and tighten my abs.

That all being said...I look forward to getting to know folks here on the board and the new season of TBL

Hi, I'm glad you joined us. Your initial weight loss is great! The people here are very nice and helpful, and as you can see from how quiet it's been lately, we can use some new people! Thanks for the birthday wishes, too! Sue

Welcome again

I don't think there's anything wrong with losing weight slowly, in fact I think it's better for you in the long run. It's much healthier and realistic to lose slowly than to drop a ton of weight right away and end up putting it back on. When it's slow, you tend to gradually adapt to your new lifestyle and make it work for you...if you drop it fast, you are probably doing some quick fix fad diet that you wouldn't be able to stick to long-term. I think the route you are doing it is fantastic and congrats again on the weight you've lost so far.

I'm so glad you started a journal! And I agree-- slow weight loss is best. Do it right -- no tricks or silly diets-- and the weight will stay off. I don't think there's anything more depressing than losing weight, only to gain it back. Not that that's happened to me -- I'd have to lose a lot more first-- but I've seen it happen to others. And I know it must be really tough for them.
We are all fans of TBL, but I think most of us agree that that is a very unrealistic show. I do find it inspiring and fun to watch, but I would never expect, or even want a 12 pound weight loss in a week, or anything comparable to that. I think the contestants learn good things, but for the rest of us out there in the real world, there's no way we can work out the amount of time they do. And I do think it must be easier to stick to a diet when you are in a completely different situation than your normal home life. They get to think ( or have to think) diet and exercise 24/7, which is pretty much impossible for the rest of us.
Well, I've rambled on enough -- I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.
Carol

Sue---I believe in time the board will pick up...it seems from previous posts that folks seem to find their way to this board; hoping anyways Hope it was a great birthday!

Missy---slow is best, so I've heard. I'm all for losing slowly as long as something's going. LOL...inches are what I mostly keep track of, and pounds are what I hope end up leaving too.

Muppet---yeah, it's a show that seems unrealistic because of the amount of time and energy they are putting into each person...and the trainers, but for the most part, it's a great boost to see how folks change their lives and bodies by eating right with exercise. Looking forward to getting to know all of ya

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Weight is 199 and holding
I walked 3 miles today and did 80 crunchers afterwards
breakfast was flax pancake w/peanutbutter, SF raspberry jam and 1 sausage patty
Lunch was chicken Santa Fe from Carls Jr...protein style
I have to say, it's great to become demanding when eating out...nicely of course. The folks I've come across at resturants are excellent when you ask for differences or what food contains. I think it has to do a lot with more and more allergies people are aware of. I also think of it as if we're paying for the food, then we should have what we want
I think we can learn a lot from the show. Although last season I was a bit disappointed in all the drama. They seemed to focus on that more that the work it takes to lose the weight. But it's all part of the show, and the bottom line is they want to entertain people.
No matter what though, they can't fail to inspire and encourage people to make these changes in their lives. We need to see the struggle. It's just incredible to see everyone at the finale and how much so many have changed.
Next season it sounds like they're going to do a 'Where are they now' sort of show. I'm really looking forward to that, and hope that we see people who have made permanent changes in their lives.
Muppet---yeah, the drama, like every other show, makes the show fun to watch, but when you look through that and see the people making changes, it's just awesome to see the transformations and it brings on encouragement.
Yesterday....
3 miles and 80 crunchers
Today...
Day off from exercise and letting my body take a breather
