Oh, that's just too funny!!!!!! I'm glad your husband was able to see her for what she is. I hope you enjoyed your evening anyway!

Nicky,
I know it must have been very difficult for you and your husband when his aunt passed away. Just this past weekend I went back home for a baby shower for my new neice. I too blew eating properly, and more than likely gained a few pounds because of it. However, I looked it like this... I expect this to be the last baby shower I'll ever go to for either my brother or one of my in-laws. This is the last baby I expect to be born in my generation of the family. I will not have the opportunity to celebrate the birth of a child that will be so dear to my heart again for many years. So I decided to enjoy myself, and enjoy the pizza, and cake, and nuts, and punch, and blah, blah, blah, blah.... Just the same I think you could look at the experience with your husband's aunt in the same manner. You will not be able to gather together to celebrate her life again. Just spend the rest of your life knowing that you enjoyed the time you spent with the family in honor of his aunt's life. Know that this is not something you're going to make a habit of, and at the same time, don't beat yourself up about it. After all, that was a time for you to celebrate her life, and how much the family grew to love her over the years. She was someone special to both of you, so you made an exception and bent the rules. It's ok!!!!!! Besides, I'm sure Tom's Auntie would be willing to forgive ya!

We know this is better for her, even though it is hard on us.
It has been a terrible food get togethers all the time weekend since then. So between my decision to not manipulate the scale for a lower number and all the terrible eating we have done since our anniversary dinner Friday night, I wasn't surprised at all by the 6.5 pound gain when I stepped on the scale this morning.
I know I just have to work harder now to lose it again.

Nicky, I am very sorry for your family's loss. I dont blame you one bit for indulging at such a difficult time. I dont think many people would have been able to say no either. If you need us, we are here for you.

HI all, just thought I'd stop here for a sec before I go to bed. I'm exhausted... what a long day. My hubby and I didn't sleep much last night (thinking about today) and I worked a couple hours this morning and we had to be at the visitation by 10:00. I know she had a long wonderful life and is in a better place now, but it's still sad... but like the pastor said... you are said because you loved, would you rather have never loved in order to not feel sadness?
I missed stopping in here and catching up with everyone's live's today... I will "see" you all tomorrow

We Miss You
Hi Nicky,
I hope you and your husband are feeling better. But like you said, she had a long life, and that is a good thing. And even though she is in a "better place," you will always have your memories of her. Each time you think about her, she becomes alive again in you.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!
