Thumbs up Kick startin' myself

Hello to all
My name is Cheryl. I am from Rochester, NY. I have gained weight over the past few years, to the tune of 90+ lbs. Now I am a charming 5'7" and 225 lbs Not a pretty picture from the blond hair, blue eyed girl that use to turn heads. However, at 38 years old (and being a Nurse as well), I am more concerned for my health than for vanity (though who wouldn't want to feel at least a little sexy).
Knowledge without action is useless, I am hoping to learn from everyone here but more than anything to be motivated. To rise up and getting working my goals. My goal... my brother is getting married in October and I want to be looking good and be a size 8 (a decrease from my present 18-20) in his bridal party, not be the thorn amongst the roses. I am do not feel this too lofty, though some have told me it is, but I want to push myself. I feel that any weight loss is great, it just seems the getting started is the hardest part. I am thinking about purchasing the DVD's and books that are out. I found the show to be so inspiring. In this day and age of trash television and 110 lb. reality show contestants (ok, perhaps I am somewhat jealous), it was both a breath of fresh air and true day to day reality for so many Americans. I would love to hear any suggestions you all may have. Have a great day. Cheryl

Hey Cheryl! I'm really glad you joined this website and I have already enjoyed responding to your posts . Hopefully you won't have to go out and buy the book and dvd because you can win it right here on this website. All you have to do is keep posting! Bob's book is really good, I haven't tried the workout yet but my sister really likes it. My sister has lost a great deal of weight following his book. The hardest part is getting started, but once you do that and get comitted the weight is going to come off. I remember Bob said you can't work out four times one week and none the next and expect to lose weight. I don't know about you but that has been me for a long time, now I set four days out of the week and plan what I'm going to do weather it's swimming, yoga, aerobics, and I stick to it (at least so far I have) Well I do hope you find answers here and I hope to chat more with you soon.

Hi Cheryl, welcome to the forum. I think you can definitely achieve your weight loss goal by October! You just have to come up with a plan of diet and exercise that you will stick to, make a list of short term goals and rewards that will motivate you along the way, keeping a journal of food and exercise also helps too! Just tell yourself that you will not listen to any of your excuses and that it is not optional to skip any part of your plan. That;s how I keep myself motivated.
