Red face Me, Myself, and I

Hi, I am Cat and I am 16 years old. I weigh 220 lb and I smoke. I have been trying to figure out a way to loose weight, but I give up easily, especially since I have no one to help me. I came to this site looking for help and support. I am tired of being made fun of and I am tired of looking like a fudge ball. I'm here to change my life, to prove I am worth it.

Welcome, Cat. I think it's great that you are going to try to lose weight at age 16 rather than wait until you're older and you have developed health problems. You go, girl!

This group has been a little quiet lately, but if you look back at earlier postings, you will find lots of good information about what to eat, how to exercise, and so on.

Also, if you post questions, start a journal, log what you're eating and what kind of exercising you're doing, etc., people will definitely respond!

I know one of the things that can be hard for young people trying to lose weight is that they're not the ones buying the groceries. Will your family support you in buying healthy, fresh food for you? Can you cook?

Hope to be hearing lots from you...

Sue

1) How did you hear about the site?

I wanted to join the original Biggest Loser site on the official website but that costs money so I did a Google search and this website came up as a result.

2) Reasons for joining? I would like to have a group of online support outside of the support I get from my family.

3) Current Weight: 127 lbs.

4) Current/Past Lifestyle Habits (do you exercise and if so for how long, what exercise? what is your nutrition like, what are you eating on a daily basis? do you smoke? drink?)

For starters I don’t drink or smoke at all and I’m only five feet tall. In the past my nutrition wasn’t healthy and I admit it. I got married a year ago and before my husband and I got married we decided that it would be best for me to go on birth control. I did this for the two of us because we don’t want to have children so soon after marriage.

After I went on the pill I noticed dramatic changes in my lifestyle, mainly my eating habits. I would eat more and not be able to stop myself. In that first year I gained 25 pounds alone. I was horrified. So I decided to do something about it. I changed my eating habits and began exercising and I managed to loose 9 pounds by my wedding.

You see before the pill I never ate breakfast but I did eat lunch and some dinner. I could eat anything and not gain an ounce of fat. I’m not trying to discourage anyone. Instead I want to get my feelings onto the table. My top weight in high school was 100 pounds and in college my main peak was 105 pounds. You see my metabolism was that of a cheetah but not anymore. So after the wedding day and nearly six months later I had gone back into my old habits of eating all day and not stopping. I gained back those 25 pounds and added an extra 20 to it.

I had never heard of the biggest looser before and I wanted to know what it was all about. I watched it a few times and fell in love with the show. After that I joined this forum for support. Since I started watching the biggest loser I’ve changed my eating habits, I bought Jillian’s book: Winning by Loosing, and I exercise five days a week for an hour session of extensive cardio. I want to start on building my muscles in my arms but I haven’t begun yet. I still need to buy a set of weights.

In regards to what I eat - I love chicken, especially grilled and baked chicken. I don't fry anything anymore even though I miss it but that is the past me. I eat chicken every night of the week and I am Always looking for new chicken recipes. I drink water all day long and have a glass of milk. I don't drink any tea, soda or juice. I enjoy eating salads with light ranch dressing. I know its ranch dressing and believe me I've tried the light n fit flavors but they don't agree with my taste buds. I eat only 100% whole-wheat bread. I now eat breakfast of corn chex without milk. Also, in regards to the milk I drink, it's 2%, I've tried the 1% and the skim and to me they aren't agreeable with me.

5) Things you have trouble with in losing weight? My main area of problem is my tummy.

6) Things you have tried in the past for weight loss (did they work before?) I’ve never tried any dieting pills or had any type of surgery to remove fat. I’ve never actually followed a diet in the past but I know now that drinking two or more sodas a day during my past life isn’t acceptable anymore today.

7) What do you want to change in your life? I want to change my overall health by being able to run a mile without stopping every so amount of feet to catch my breath. Pretty much I want to finally take control of my life and be healthy and of course, look good. lol.

8) What are your short and long term goals for weight loss? My short-term goal is to get down to 120 pounds by Thanksgiving. My long-term goal weight is to be in the range of 110 to 108.
