Talking New and looking for support.

I am 47 years old, had two children many moons ago. I am now a grandmother of 5 and felt great about all of this until I started to pack on the grandma pounds. I am at a point where I have no motivation to get out and exercise. I work full time, babysit, have two dogs that keep me hopping- so I have an awful lot of excuses to not allow myself time to do what I need to do. Want to lose 25 pounds and feel good about who I am once again. Anyone in the same boat as me and willing to share some emotional support and some new ideas?

Welcome to our little community. A lot of us keep in touch with each other by posting journals...basically a daily/weekly log discussing things you want to talk about and others usually post advice or encouragement. Hope you find what you're looking for at this site, I know it's helped me out a lot.

Welcome! You're just in time for the new season of Biggest Loser, which should be really inspiring and will probably get things hopping on this board again. It's been pretty slow here all summer.

I'm also one of the older people around this board, age 52, and let me tell you, you can do it! Despite some mobility and pain problems that have drastically limited my ability to exercise, I've lost about 30 lbs in the past year and plan to lose another 30 in the coming year.

My advice to you is to concentrate on nutrition. I try to eat foods that really pack in the nutrition (superfoods like spinach, blueberries, whole grains, etc.) and avoid foods that give you calories without much nutrition (sugar, white flour, etc.). Try to learn something new about nutrition every day--there's plenty of information online and in magazines and so on. Even if you implement only a small amount of what you learn, it will make a difference.
