Question Heard of the FIRM?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has heard of the FIRM workout video - and if so have you used it? I saw it @ WalMart for only $10 but wondered if I should get it b/c I definitely plan on getting the BL DVD - should I workout to only one video or have several to choose from?

Nope

I've heard of it but not tried it. I do have the Biggest Loser DVD (which I am ashamed to say I still have not tried) and I have a couple of other dvds (like Tae Bo) that are good...hard but good....I think dance workouts and others like that work best for me....keeps me interested.

Variety

I think variety is important for 2 reasons. At least for me it keeps me from getting bored. Also if your body gets used to the same routine it may plateau. I have tons of different Taebo videos/dvd, ball workout video, Winsor Pilates.

I have done a Firm video before and it is definitely challenging. What's great about them is the combination of cardio and weights. That is always good.

I think that variety is the spice of life Patty Ann. You should have a workout DVD that is your favorite to keep yourself consistent. It also helps you gauge your fitness level, when it starts becoming really easy, then you know you are getting in really good shape! Throw in a couple of other DVDs to get a more well rounded workout and to keep from getting bored.

I agree with ehyatt, if you always use the same workout DVD your body will get used to it and it will lose it's effectiveness. By rotating you are using different muscles and your body will continue to get the benefits for a longer period of time, plus it helps from getting bored.

Is anyone aware of a good beginner video? I really need one that's exciting and encouraging.

I do like Pilates. I thought I would hate it. There are some moves that I still can not do but that's okay. There is one person always demonstrating the modified moves. Sometimes I can't even do those and develop my own modifications. If I really do not feel like exercising I do Pilates. It's not as strenuous or vigorious as other exercises. It definitely does tone and help you lose inches.

Wow - thanks for all the responses! Now my question is this - do I use a workout video every day or just three times a week? I walk every day and will be using my Elliptical every day - I just don't want to burn myself out. Also...I have tried the Tae Bo a long time ago - I didn't want to do it b/c I was afraid that I didn't have my positions right...can I get around the worrying part and do the workouts?

When you mention weights for these shows - what size weights?

Does the library have exercise videos to borrow? I know our local video store has some excerise video that you can rent. I've thought about checking out some of those just to see.
