Soreness kept me from working out

Hello! I was so sore yesterday that I was unable to workout. My left calf muscle was extremely sore from the workout the day before (Low Intensity - BL). I started to workout but was only able to get through the warm up and about 10 minutes of the workout. After the jumping jacks I was unable to finish it b/c my leg hurt - it wasn't a burn - it was pain so I knew that I had to stop. I don't want to injure myself to where I can't workout at all. I went on and completed my pilates workout for the day...felt good that I was able to get some workout in for the day. Then I went to a wedding and reception and I was able to dance a little bit - burned some calories but hurt too bad to dance the way I usually do.

Today I worked out to the Sculpt & Tone - along with my pilates. I really do enjoy the sculpt and tone. I feel so good afterwards.

I am really hoping to be able to do the low intensity workout tomorrow. I hope you all are doing good with the workouts.

You guys who just got the DVD are inspiring me again. After a week of falling off the "exercise" horse, I'm really going to go home and give it a go tonight.

Ps. If you're new to the DVD and stuggling, just start with the modifications or as Bob says just keep your feet moving the whole time. It's a lot better to just keep your heart rate up for that long than be able to do all the jumpingjacks, lunges, etc. Every bit you do will get you closer to doing the whole thing. You can bet those contestants featured on the DVD weren't that good when they first started working out with Bob.

Jules...I appreciate the encouraging words. I did exactly what you stated - I realized today while working out that the BLs were not that fast when they began the workouts. I realized that just b/c I can't keep up with the speed of them that I don't have to give up....I pushed myself today and did my own pace - I kept it up...just couldn't go quite as fast as them. I kept my heart rate up and that's what matters.

I was able to get through the workout today - felt good. I am hoping that my legs are not in pain tomorrow - I have too much to do tomorrow to be sittin' b/c of pain in my lower leg.

I'm glad that we have inspired you - your words are always so encouraging. THANKS!

I totally agree. I have to stick to the modifications for a while. I figure I'm not even going to try more until I can get myself in the routine of handling the modifications.

TMI for any guys I bought a couple new workout bras this weekend and I think they will work much better when I'm ready to do jumping jacks again. LOL

You're doing great Nicky & Patty!! Go ahead and do the motifications, it's fine. That's why Bob keeps stressing it during the workouts. Before long you'll be able to do everything right along with the others.

Glad you got some "support" for the girls. I don't have much on top and I do my workouts first thing in the morning usually in the clothes that I wore to bed which means no bra. Big mistake!

I'm so glad we can help each other. I went home last night and actually exercised for the first time in over a week! I did both high and low cardio along with a 1 mile walk with Denise Austin (review in my journal). I did it! I exercised again, and by myself too! I've never even attempted both BL workouts in 1 day, but I have some making up to do. And tonight I'm going to exercise again -no excuses. Everytime I exercise I hear more and more of what they say in the video -this time it was Bob saying "there's no easy way to start, just do it" really caught my attention. It's just like you guys have said to me -just get yourself moving.

Patty Ann, I hope your leg is feeling better today. My left upper leg hurt yesterday too. I think I just slept funny on it so I did the all the modifications involving that leg. I know I can't let injuries stop my workouts. I went to a yoga class last fall for 4 weeks, then I bruised one knee really badly and never made it back to class again. It's important to take care of injuries, but also not to let it be an easy excuse, as I know I'm prone to let that happen.

I'm so glad you're feeling better about your workout level. There's room to grow in your exercise regime, and there always will be. Whenever I've used a taped workout I always fall all over the place the first few times especially trying to keep up and figure out the moves and I feel like the most uncoordinated person. But after a while, I get the rhythm down and I can keep up better and enjoy the workout more and stumble around less. I know I'm not kicking as high or going as low in lunges, but I'm feeling it and that's enough for me right now.

Thanks for getting me off my bum and moving again. I'm glad you're enjoying and using the DVD. Ps -you guys and your sports bras crack me up! Wish I had more to worry about there, but atleast when my stomach gets smaller it should make my top look larger. Still even I hate jumping jacks and jumping rope movements, doesn't Bob realize we jiggle doing all that jumping around?
