I just can't quite conceptualize a walking video. Sounds to me like you walk in place, while watching the video, but by all the positive comments, there must be more to it than that.
I will always prefer to walk outside. I have access to so many beautiful hiking, and biking trails... but sometimes the weather does not cooperate. Not very often -- I can take quite a bit of cold. But there are times too, when I just don't feel like going out. I find I can make myself do a workout better, if I know it's shorter (1/2 hour or so) Sometimes it's just so hard to get started, with those longer ones. But, I feel so good when I'm done! I think they are a much harder workout than walking outside.

So far so good Elizabeth. I really enjoy working out to them...it is so funny. My 2 1/2 year old and 10 year old daughters worked out with me yesterday - it was too cute. I wish I had my video camera rolling! They kept me in good spirits as I worked out yesterday.

I have found that the video I work out to is a lot more work than what I do when I do my 2 mile walk outdoors. The 2 mile walk outdoors consists of me walking up two small hills and the rest is pretty much level - I walk at a brisk pace to keep my heart rate up. The only thing I don't like about walking outside is the cold weather right now...when it is nice out I will be outside walking also. I didn't feel that I was getting much of a workout while I was walking outdoors b/c when I started the Walk & Kick video I felt the burn. It feels great working out in my own living room. Leslie lets you know that you are half way through the workout and motivates you to keep going. I really like this video. I'm not sure about her other videos but the Walk & Kick has some aerobics walking and a few kick boxing moves. I didn't think I would like the kick boxing but I love it. It is a 30 minute video and when I am finished I feel terrific and sweaty. My calf muscles have been sore just a little bit over the past two days but they are getting better.
I can't wait for the nicer weather b/c when I walked outdoors my 10 year old daughter was my walking pal. She misses walking with me and I miss having the private time with her. When the weather is better I will do my 2 mile walk outdoors as well as my video in home. You should really try out one of the walking videos...I think you will like it.

I think I will look for them. Are they available at Wal mart? I know a lot of people have gotten TBL workout DVD there, but I haven't found it in any of the stores around here. I'll keep looking!
I'm lucky, because I do get a lot of hills, and even some trails through the woods, that require actual climbing! Those are my favorite.
I got my 10 year old daughter a new bike for Christmas this year. We've been able to go on 1 bike ride, but I'm looking forward to more. She is excited, because she has always used her brother's hand-me-down bikes before. This new one is definitely hers! It's lavendar! I know I can really feel those bike rides. As I said, lots of hills-- I know it's a much tougher workout than just walking. I love it when I can feel those muscles burn! ( my rear end too, after the first ride of the season! )
But, I know you can't have too many optiions! DVD's are cheaper than a treadmill!
I have never worked out on a tread mill. But I have on an exercise bike. 4 miles on an exercise bike is exhausting. 4 miles outside, is a delight! Is it the same on a treadmill? Do the miles seem to drag on forever? I can walk outside for an hour, and the time flies. Does it creep on a treadmill?

I know i get bored on treadmills, elliptical, etc but outdoors especially if i have someone to walk with it goes by so fast.

I really think I would find them tedious too. I have been considering getting one, but I'm not sure I will use it enough, to make it worth the expense, and the space it will take up. I really don't need another place for junk to gather!

I can't wait for it to get nicer outside so I walk in the mornings!!!!
I've looked at some videos almost everytime I go into the store, I just hate to spend the money and then not use it. I may try the video store or rather check out a couple video stores for a larger variety maybe

I am right there with you. I am looking to find some bike trails and get some new bikes this summer for the whole family. We are new to this area so not sure if they have them.
