Question ? about Calories

I know there are days that I do not eat the amount of calories that I'm allowed~ I'm eating less. I know this sounds like a silly question but not using up what you're allowed.....is that ok? or should you really try to meet what your calorie intake should be for your weight? I don't do this on purpose, it's just that there might be days where I don't eat as much as the day before or what I eat in a day might not total up to what I can have.

Like I said, silly question but I was just wondering.....

Try to use up what you are allowed; especially if you are working out. Going under 1,200 cals a day throws you into starvation mode and will kill your metabolic rate. However; if you are full, dont force it. Try and eat some higher calorie (but still healthy foods) to use up more of your allotment. Bodies (like cars) need fuel to run. And they run better with better fuel, and not the high fat stuff to gunk up the artieries and pipes!
But I am sure you know all this.

Almonds are full of healthy fats. The kind I buy are 150 cals per ounce. Weight Watchers yogurt is 110 calories per serving. Rice cakes depending on flavor run in different calorie ranges. My favorite Chocolate Crunch ones are 60 cals each. SmartPop Popcorn is good too. They come in mini bags for those of us (ME) who cant control themselves. Larger bags come in Butter and Kettle Corn flavors. Unsweeted applesauce is 50 cals a serving. (I add cinnamon and heat!) The yummy Tyson Buffalo flavored grilled chicken strips I am munching right now are 110 cals a serving. They look innocent; but will scorch your mouth if you arent careful.

I will go through my calorie book and see what else I can come up with.

Carrie~ thanks so much for the tips....I'll keep them in mind when I grocery shop next.

You mentioned Almonds......there's a snack idea in the BL Cookbook......in case you're interested here it is:

I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray
1 ounce whole raw Almonds (about 20)
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 packet of sugar substitute (such as Splenda)

Preheat oven to 350
Place Almonds in single layer on nonstick baking sheet. Bake 7-10 minutes.

Transfer nuts to a small bowl. Spritz 5 times with the spray butter. Stir. Spritz another 5 times with the spray. Add cinnamon and Sugar substitute. Stir. Spritz 5 times with the spray butter. Stir until as evenly coated as possible. Let stand for about 5 minutes to cool then serve immediately.

Sounds like a lot of "spritzing" but it still sounds good!

Makes 2 servings

88 Calories per serving
3 g protein
4 g carbs
7 g fat
0 mg cholesterol
2 g fiber
150 mg sodium

Sounds yummy except I use SmartBalance Spray. And there is no such thing and too much spritz for me!
