Tomorrow

Hey guys! How many of us out there say we will start our diets tomorrow? I am very guilty of this! I constantly say I'm going to give up sweets tomorrow, or cut my carbs tomorrow, and I'm going to start working out tomorrow. My husband always says he would really like to see this tomorrow that I keep talking about . It's sad but true that tomorrow never comes and we all need to stop saying that and start today!

Tomorrow or Monday

I am also guilty of the "I'll start tomorrow" problem, or "Monday I am going to the gym" I agree we should start today and stop with the planning for another day. If you truely want to get started on weight loss, you should start it as soon as possible and get it over with. Meet your challenges head-on.

Guilty as charged!

I know I am guilty of the I'll start tomorrow. Actually for me even more it's the "I'll start over again tomorrow" like on the nights, like last night, when I decide I want BBQ chicken wings and a pop for an appetizer for our healthy dinner. and then I think, oh well I screwed up... I might as well enjoy it and I'll start over tomorrow.
From now on I'm going one minute at a time and not a day or a week at a time.

Who isn't guilty of this? That's why many of us are here. To try to get actually reach that mythical tomorrow. My father went through this about a year and a half ago. He finally said he woke up and said "Tomorrow will never come. But today is already here, so why wait?" And now he's down close to 60 pounds just with diet. No exercise changes, nothing but South Beach.

I was guilty of "well, I ruined today by eating pizza for lunch, I might as well get some ice cream and beer for the night". The next day, I felt guilty about yesterday, and went into the search for the mythical tomorrow as well. In the past month, I've definately had my week moments, chips and salsa during football games, etc, but now I tell myself that a bad meal is just a setback, and I can always get back on track with my next meal.

Is anybody using a food diary? I've found that I'm more accountable to my meals when I write down everything I consume. Even on the bad days, if i have pizza or beer, I put it in my diary so I know the impact. The next day, when I want to be bad, I can look at that diary and convince myself to stay on track.

Guilty

Yep...I've been bitten by the procrastination bug....we all have to remember that our bodies need us to start TODAY...if you bomb out on your diet at lunch...so what....jump back on it for dinner...don't wait for the next day, or the weekend, or next week....its ok to mess up or splurge a little now and then...the key is to jump back on it and don't let it rule your life. I am bad about saying "tomorrow i'll go to the gym"....and then that turns into next week. So far I've hit the gym twice this week and am going a third time tonite. I'm so out of shape I'm having to start easy...every time I go I walk a mile and then do weights for about 30+ minutes. We have to claim it!!

Beth...I have been there many times also. My husband has said the same thing - when is tomorrow going to come. Well, when I decided that I was going to apply for the BL Season 3 show I thought I'll just wait and see if I get picked. Well, then I came to realization that there is a huge possiblity of me not getting on the show and that if I wanted to lose weight I had to do it on my own...not just b/c I have a trainer and nutritionist by my side. It is going to be harder not having them with me but I have to learn and I have to know that I am doing it myself!

Last Thursday I decided that I needed to start that day...I did start that day and have done pretty good so far. I know it has only been a few days but for me to get out and walk everyday is a big step...and to include water daily - that is the big one for me. I NEVER drank water - I now drink about 3 or 4 20 ounce bottles a day. I have to drink it out of a bottle or I won't drink it.(psychological thing) lol

I believe that I have to take responsibility of my weight and to control it with what I eat and exercise. I have to mention this forum has helped me out tremendously!

I am with you Patty Ann. I don't know what the pyschological impact of getting water in a bottle is, but once I finish a bottle of water, I will refill it several times during the day rather than just reaching for a glass.

Face it, the only thing we have control of is what we choose to do this very moment. We have no control over the past, it is gone. There is not a whole lot we can devine about what we will do in the future, because it isn't here yet. The only thing we can do is live for this moment. What good choices are we going to make right now? I know for me it is a constant mode of thinking "what can I do right now to improve my diet and exercise?" Keeping a journal really helps, staying focused on what I am trying to accomplish helps a lot too. I am constantly pep talking myself through the choices I make during the day in order to have the will power to make the right ones. All you can control is this moment-What are you going to do this moment to improve your diet and exercise? Me? I am drinking another bottle of water-LOL

I do the same thing when I run out of water. I have to have water at my side all the time now. I do the same thing - as I walk I give myelf pep talks to get through it. I always ask myself if eating this will help me - it has worked wonders over the past week.
