Question FitDay

I joined FitDay.com. It looks like a great way to keep track of calories, etc. but I'm not sure how to judge when it comes to certain things and there are some things that I'm having trouble finding. To anyone that uses FitDay, I'd love any feedback about the site and how you use it.

Thanks,
Bella

I use Fitday, and I love it. I can't always find everything in their database, either, but you can put in your own new items. I use the nutritional information from packages. And occasionally I've been able to find nutritional information online for some foods.

One of the things that Fitday has helped me with is deciding whether I needed to take any supplements. I figured I was eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and didn't need anything extra. But Fitday showed me I should probably also take some vitamins, iron, etc. The various types of reports that you can generate kind of help keep me on track.

I've been using the free version of Fitday online for about 3 months now, and I haven't seen any reason to buy their software. The free site seems to meet my needs.

Sue

Thanks Sue. I'm going to play around with it a little more, I'll get the hang of it eventually.

It's funny this should come up, because I had to use fitday today. I usually use this site http://www.calorie-count.com/, but it's doing mainenance or something today, and I couldn't get on. )This is the first time I have ever had this situation with this site)
Anyway, I like the calorie count site better, because it has a lot more foods already in the date base. At least, it's easy for me to find what I eat. They already have lots of 'healthy choice', 'lean cuisine', as well as foods from most of the food chains. So it's very easy to tally things up, because it's already there, and you don't have to track down a label.
I think it's just a personal choice, and what you get used to. Calorie count also analyzes your diet and 'grades' you. Although, I don't know how accurate it all is. As well as a food log, there is an activity log.
I just thought I'd throw that out there as an option to 'fitday'.

Hey Muppet.....

I checked out the Calorie-Count.com that you mentioned. I agree with you, I do like it better than FitDay. Like you said, user friendly. I'm just stuck with what to do for example when I've used let's say 1 tablespoon of peanut butter ...how do I add just the 1tablespoon or if I used a recipe that called for a 1/3 cup of yogurt? Am I making sense? Any help would be great!

Well, when you add a food to your log, you can adjust the serving size. If they don't have on there the exact measurment I use, then I just do the best I can to come as close as possible. For example, if they only give you the option of 1 c. of something, and you know you only ate half a cup, then change the serving size to .5
Just get comfortable with the good old decimal system again, and you'll be fine.
I think though, that fitday give you more thorough nutritional information. But it takes forever for me to log in everything. With calorie count.com, if I've eaten a lean cuisine, or had a subway, I don't have to figure out the calories of every ingredient, just find it, add it, and badaboom, badabing-- you're done!
