Vitamins, Supplements, Replacements, Snacks?
Do you guys take any vitamins or supplements? Right now, every morning I drink a protein shake (Champion Nutrition Pure Whey, which is actually really good! I know, I was surprised too). I did a program a while back that had me taking vitamin supplement pills with every meal, and I felt bloody wonderful. Now, I'm looking at just getting something like the One-a-Day Vitamins, or something along those lines, just to get everything I need. Suggestions?
For the record too, the Pure Whey shake has been great. I really enjoy it and it's a great meal replacement. I've noticed a huge difference in myself since I started using it. A roommate of mine is a fitness guru (and DEDICATED VEGAN), which is great, 'cause he's a great resource, but I wanted opinions from other people as well. He recommended I try that and also turned me onto Clif Bars for the occassional snack. Those are great (I like the peanut butter chocolate chip), they are an animal product free snack bar, that tastes good and does actually have any chocolate or anything. Plus, they really satisfy the sweet tooth without being loaded with sugars and such, I was very surprised at how good it tasted without all the "crap".

I take the One A Day Women's Formula multi-vitamin every morning with breakfast. I also sometimes take Vitamin C and Calcium pills.
Usually after a workout I drink a whey protein powder shake as well.

I take a multi vitamin twice a day, one with breakfast and one with dinner. My doctor said that was ok because alot of vitamins are water soluable and with drinking lots more water they tend to get flushed from the system rapidly.

I take a multivitamin (varyng brands) once a day (when I remember) and also a Calcium with Vit. D. I sometimes take a fishoil omega 3 pill too.
I love the ThinkOrganic bars, they are delicious, I think Vegan, and all healthy stuff, but they are VERY high in calories since they are mainly nuts. One staple in my healthier eating is no-sugar-added chocolate pops (Jello-brand maybe? Yellow box, frozen aisle.) for my dessert replacement. It's like a stick of chocolate ice cream, but very low cal at 40 cal/pop and nicely portioned out into servings so I can't cheat. It's probably not Vegan, but it's darned good. I've had other chocolate pops that were gross, but this brand I've found I love and have eaten for months now. It's often been the only thing keeping me from seeking out a really bad-for me dessert.
Cheers, hope this helps!

good to know...I'll have to look those up. I'm not a vegan myself, I don't think I could do it! He's nice to have around though, 'cause he knows more than most how hard it is/can be to find foods to fit a certain diet.

I read a book -- Body for life, WOMAN-- and she advised taking a multivitamin, such as Centrum. ( I take the wal mart version of this) and a calcium supplement, with vitamin D. She recommended calcium citrate, rather that calcium carbonate. Right now, I'm taking a calcium carbonate, but I'm going to switch, once these are gone.
I have a really hard time remembering to take these.

Soy protein isolate with water, ice, and 1 banana. Want to also try adding whey protein isolate later on. Also take Genuine Brewer's Yeast by Twin Labs, Desiccated Liver Tabs from Universal Nutrition, and Vitamin D3 by Country Life.

I've been tracking what I eat on Fitday.com. One of the reports you can generate there tells you what you're lacking nutritionally.
So based on that, I've started taking a calcium supplement with magnesium (apparently your body can't use the calcium unless it also has magnesium).
Also I'm taking a fish oil supplement and some phyto-nutrients from Nature's Way. I've noticed since I started on these things that my energy level is better than it's been in a long while.

When you're dieting you are not only getting less calories but also less nutrients. Take a good multiple to help supplement your diet and eat clean.
