ready to throw in the towel
I was visiting some other message boards to see if anyone could give some info. on waiting time. [by the way, this site has people that are so much nicer. There are some pychos out there!] From what I gathered, no one really has a clear answer. Some open casting call people heard back right away, others within a week or two, some not at all. Some video only auditioners heard back in a week or two and have already had a live interview. The deadline has definitely been extended until Feb. 17 and the video can now be 5-10 minutes. I did my best, I think I would be a great addition to the cast, but they are looking for something and I have to face the facts that I might not be it. I will "wait" and hope a bit more before beginning plan B. [which is get my behind in gear, find a friend or two, and exercise and diet myself]. Not as profitable or as much fun as being on TV, but the end result is the goal after all.
In the journey to better health, it doesn't matter HOW you get to the final destination but THAT you went in the first place.

Michele - I agree. We need to work on this with the thinking that we have ourselves...not the show. If we wait for the show then we could be waiting forever.

I would suggest staying focused on you now. My dad had aspirations of being on Survivor Guatemala, he had an excellent video and attitude and he never heard back from them. My dad was a drill sargeant in the Army, he is now retired but I always thought he would have been like the contestant Rudy (who was an ex Navy Seal). It is too bad he didn't get picked.
My point is that you never know what NBC will choose to do. Keep applying, sending in tapes and going to casting calls. Persistence pays off! Meanwhile, do the best that you can for you, because all you can really control is your todays. Good luck!

The important thing is the weight loss, not who wins or makes it on the show. That's why this show has a happy ending no matter who wins -and you can have that happy ending without all of America seeing you overweight in shorts/sports bra. I hope the show motivates you no matter if you mae it or not. Best of luck!

I wouldn't wait for the show to contact you in order to get started. Look into a gym membership now or some exercise tapes or some walking buddies.

I agree with everyone here. Don't wait around hoping you will get called. Go onto your plan B now, find a few exercise buddies and get on the track to a healtier you. If you want the competition of it, start a competition with a couple of friends and make it fun. no it won;t be like being on tv, but you can still be the Biggest Loser at home! Good luck to you on your journey

Start NOW!
Why wait? If you really want to make this chang, start it now. So if you lose a few pounds and they DO call you , they will just see that you really ARE detirmend to make the change.
The show is my plan B. I sent in my tape but have also started excersizing and eating right on my own. In the long run, WE are the ones that need to change out mind set and do the work. The show is just a little bonus! OK, A BIG bonus.
I actually lost 30 lbs BEFORE sending in my tape, I don;t think I could have done what they would expect with that excess poundage! I was well over 300lbs and have not seen a female on the show over 300 yet.
Regardless, show or not, I WILL lose this weight and WILL change my life!

I like what amazonprincess said about the show being your plan B. Focus on yourself and if you get on the show, that would be a bonus! I know it is not easy, but try to relax about waiting to hear from the show and just get motivated to make the change yourself. You are the only one that is truly going to make the difference in your weightloss, show or no show.

Congratulations on the weight loss - that is great! I have done the same thing - I have started my program and exercising daily. My tape is on it's way but it isn't all that I have to lose the weight. I have to do this on my own. Best wishes to you!
