Wow Missy...

Not only does he look good, but he has a good heart. (He is definitely earning his yummy points in my book!) I cant believe the school would pass up such an opportunity. There seems to be some strict boundaries when it comes to unions. My current employer isnt too happy because a union was voted in and they wont be able to get away with running things the way they have. But I digress...Why cant they look into making him a volunteer parent (teacher's aid) or even a "substitute teacher." He's got the credientials for gosh sakes. Maybe they are worried about compensation, or liability. Who knows. If I were the principal I would have taken him up on the offer. All you have to do these days and look at the growing obesity epidemic. Unfortunatly, you dont have to look too far. Parents can feed their kids good things, but schools can offset that completely with their poor offerings, and lack of gym time. Sitting in the classroom may stimulate brain development, creativity, and knowledge, but it does nothing for the muscles, or teach how to be a team player. Bad move on the school's part. They could have at least researched it. How many parents can lead such crazy busy lives and still find time to take that much interest in their child's life and welfare? I dare say, not many. He should give some thought to an after school fitness program for kids. Then the school doesnt have a leg to stand on if it isnt held on school property. (If he has the time.)
Wow, healthy vending machines! They tried to do that at work, but the selections are still dismal. I have a hard time choosing something in there when it is surrounded by cheeseburgers, pies, salads with junk on them, subs, and other unhealthy selections. But, when push comes to shove, I have fallen victim to it. I start carrying spoons so I dont have an excuse not to pick the yogurt or fruit cups. I am just going to avoid the mechanical food monster altogether. Take that!!
