Broken Toe
I read Sdlaw2000's blog on Thanksgiving and had to share an experience about falling and hitting hard. My wife and I had just finished getting the turkey stuffed and ready to go into the oven but we didn't want to start cooking it yet. So I had the bright idea of placing it outside on the deck since the fridge was full of other stuff and it was very cold outside. I could see that the deck was covered with frost. As I'm walking outside in my slippers with this 20 pound turkey in the pan , I don't get three feet from the front door and I went down immediately, slipping on the frozen surface. I was able to keep the turkey from flying, it ended up in my lap but my foot took a direct hit into a support post.
Needless to say I felt a bit stupid and was in pretty severe pain. Being that it happened on Thanksgiving day, there wasn't any need to head to the Dr. and friday the 23 was a holiday for the image techs in our town. The reason I know that is my daughter in-law is their image tech. So I've been icing it and hoping it heals soon. The biggest disappointment to me is my exercise routine is in jeopardy without the use of my foot.
So does any one have experience with broken toes? What is the recovery time?
