I think what is fueling the gossip about Marty is the fact that he wasn't single when the show started. Remember the episode on the cruise ship when each contestant had a loved one show up? Marty's wife was there. Now it appears he is single. But that in no way means he had an affair. People split up for a variety of reasons and I don't think people should be assuming the worst just yet.
