Carrie, I think the answer to this is it is so visible. Most people like to hide their faults. You usually can't tell by looking who is an alcoholic, who has STDs, who can't read, who does drugs. But us? It's just out there -a fault that by its very nature is visible to all. And people are mean, they pick on weaknesses to make themselves look stronger. It's sad, and wrong, and accepted because we feel bad about it and we let them among other things. I wish everyone else had to wear their weaknesses around on display, there would be a lot less picking on large people. But really, I just wish people were nicer. I don't think it will matter how thin I get, some people are still going to be rotten to me.
