Then telling us to eat ultra-refined nutritionally devoid boxes of chemicals kind of grates on my nerves. All those sugar substitutes and hydrogenated oil are poison and just because they're low-cal posion shouldn't make them an option.

I get a bit on my soapbox about this stuff I guess because one of my co-workers collapsed at his desk at the beginning of the year. After countless MRI's and much nail-biting by his family - it turned out that he had aspartame poisoning. He drank gallons of Turkey Hill Diet Iced Tea and of all things, that was the culprit. Everyone thought he had a brain tumor - the guy even had temporary vision loss. Its so bad for you all that stuff.

I agree. I think that many people have the misconception if it's low-fat, or low calorie, it must be healthy. Wrong! A handful of walnuts is high in fat, but so much healthier than any box of Jello.
I once read a doctor say that many people overeat because their bodies aren't getting the right nutrients. Hence, they're always hungry. Filling your stomach with nutritionally void foods is not good. Sadly, more people worry about the type of gas they put in their car than the nutrients they put in their body.
I guess it's pointless to get on a soapbox about this. Unfortunately, many people go on diets just for the vanity of how they will look. It's not about health for them. It's how they will look in a mirror. It's a concept that doesn't make much sense to me, but many do it. I've seen people after exercising walk out of the gym to smoke cigarettes.
