Do you sit at a desk all day or spend much of your time at home sitting? It is easy to burn calories when you are at work or at home watching the
television.

Find reasons to stand. Standing burns calories.

While not everyone can stand at their desks there are chances during your day that you could stand instead of sit. Try standing and talking to coworkers during your break rather than sitting in the break room surrounded by high calorie junk food.

A great way of sneaking exercise into your day is using stretchy cords. These are available at most retailers that offer yoga mats. They look like
large rubber bands. Used the proper way, stretchy cords give the same kind of resistance as weight lifting. While you are sitting at your desk reading
your email, or watching your favorite television slip the cords around your feet. Place feet on the floor and pull upwards, exercising your arms and shoulders. The cords come with diagrams or photos showing the many different exercises available.

Walking is the simplest and least costly of all exercise. Fitting a walk in during your lunch break is a great way of adding exercise to your schedule without taking time away from work or family. If the weather is bad you can walk around the building. Go outside if the weather is good and enjoy the sun and fresh air. Taking a walk during lunch not only helps you become physically healthy, but it is also good for reducing stress. Just getting away from the craziness of work for even a few minutes will calm your mind and give your brain a break. You may even enjoy being out in nature.

Squeezing and releasing your buttocks while sitting at your desk is a great way to firm up. Just squeeze and hold your muscles taunt. Release and relax for a moment, then repeat. Work your way up to more repetitions slowly.

Abdominal muscles can be exercised by breathing in deeply and then exhaling the air. While taking these deep breaths suck your stomach muscles in and push your stomach out when exhaling. This is a very powerful exercise for the abdominals and is used in martial arts. Many bodybuilders use this technique in addition to their sit-ups and leg lifts. Just remember not to hyper-ventilate while you are doing your deep breathing.

To help relax in front of the computer and to burn calories perform shoulder rolls. Simply roll your shoulders in a backward direction for 10 rotations
and then change directions and roll your shoulders forward for 10 rotations. You can repeat as much as you want. Though this exercises your shoulders muscles, it also helps stretch and relieve the muscles in the neck and shoulder areas.

Drink plenty of water. When muscles work, acids are released into the muscles. This is what causes the ‘burn’ while exercising. Water helps release linger acid and flushes it out of the system. Plenty of water should be consumed the day after you receive a massage. Massages release the acids from muscles and disperses the acid into the body.

Before doing any exercise you should consult with your doctor.
